Artist's Comments

Can't see why I nevee attempted this before, I'm a huge fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series and after applying water to a person and a galaxy to a plasma ball, I thought, what better way to marry two or more images together than to create the single most fantastical thing in fantasy (save for fish who are also policement, who else saw that cartoon when they were younger?). Plus, a load of elephants sitting atop a giant turtle with a disc shaped world on their backs, how hard could that be. Very hard, it seemed, actually getting the photo's was tough, you'd be surprised how many tutrles photo's there are out there and how many of them didn't even bother to pose should someone need to do something like this. And don't get me started on the elephants. I would like to credit my inspiration to both Terry Pratchett and Paul Kidby, who's actually painted something similar (and a whole lot better) and conviced me that, yes, African elephants look way cooler than Indian elephants.

EDIT
Heh, so I've just realised why, after more than a year, this piece is still recieving favs and comments. Turns out, if you were to search for Discworld on here, this is the first piece that comes up. I'm not sure if I should be pleased about this though, it's nothing but a simple photomanip and there are pictures out there by other artists that have taken a lot more work to achieve. Oh well.

Contractions make the apostrophe seem so much more philanthropic, as it uses its efforts to unite rather than to hoard.

I have a friend who would love you. He's seen the policeman/fish-type-creatures & knows of no other person that watched the show - he was even beginning to doubt himself about it! I'd remember the name of them if I could.. was one called Ed? Anyway, the picture - loving the addition of the elephant peeking out from under the disk.

Haha, and the turtles, I can't believe how insensitive those bastard were to you!

Discworld! Ha ha ha, I love that place! Cool pic, though some of the edges do seem a bit rough, to me. I like the lighting and the nebula stuff you have going on.

:iconjoshi38:
It's not exactly a unique idea when around 30 books have been based around this world (look for books by Terry Pratchett). :D But thanks for the comment anyway.
